Our hearts have been heavy this week. The Chardon school shooting, tornadoes, illness, and a tragic auto accident with university students have all weighed on our minds.

The headlines are often filled with tragedy. Nothing unusual about that. But this time it just felt more personal and close to home, at least to me.

Although these situations have no easy fixes, the above quote comes to mind. Even though the situation is bleak, we do know that with time will come the dawn and there will be healing.

Perhaps this is also an opportunity for all of us to think of the important people in our lives. As Chardon School Superintendent, Joseph Bergant, said this week “If you haven’t hugged or kissed your kid in the past couple days, take that time.” He is right. Let’s do it now.
